About
My fondness for cooking!
Hello, my name is Mariko Miki, I am the cook at TAGAMO.
I originally started TAGAMO as I wanted to share the food I like to cook and my fondness and passion for cooking and eating with as many people as I could.
I take pride in the traditional Japanese way of cooking . It can also be pleasantly married to English ingredients to produce fusion dishes that are comfortable for non-Japanese people to enjoy. You will find it amusing to know how different your everyday ingredients can turn out to be when they are cooked in the Japanese way!
TAGAMO's cooking classes will demonstrate how Japanese home cooking can be made easy. I carefully prepare recipes and methods personally for you and your skill level so that they can be recreated by you easily at home and appear on your table regularly using ingredients and produce readily available in England. You will always go home with useful tips and tricks!
In contrast to the recipes and techniques designed for my students, my cooking for clients are more intricate and delicate to achieve the authentic flavours and seasonality of Japanese cuisine. It is something that you cannot easily prepare at home.
I cook my food wholeheartedly, no matter how casual or formal the occasion. What I cook for you is what I believe is delicious.
Cooking has been a part of my life for many years since I was young. It was my everyday routine to help my grandmother and mother to cook. It was probably an obligation as a child in a Japanese family but it grew into something that I enjoy myself very much, without me realising it.
At home, I cook many different dishes like you, from pasta to roasts as well as Japanese dishes. If you know some Japanese ways of cooking using your everyday ingredients, your meal time can be richer and more colourful.
My dream is to promote Japanese home cooking to UK households so that Japanese food can be cooked at home as easily as Italian pasta!
